Wet-works electrozine - 2003

Hey, look, a new Battery album is out. No, wait, this isn't Battery. Joking aside, Distorted Reality does sound a lot like Battery and those that have heard Battery will no doubt know that's a very good thing. "A Fine Line Between Love and Hate" is the debut release from this duo and another domestic reissue for Nilaihah Records. Previously released in Germany, the domestic US version of "A Fine Line Between Love and Hate" features new and old remixes by Forma Tadre, Assemblage 23, Noyce, Propaganda, Sabotage and Null Device. The vocals of Martha M. Arce (formely of Deep Red) have a very edgy quality to them. The music is a straight ahead dancefloor EBM that is accentuated by creative electronic melodies and piano. The album was also produced by Bruno Kramm of Das Ich. "A Fine Line Between Love and Hate" is extremely polished and crystal clear in the sound department with the music never drowning out the vocals. If you enjoy female fronted EBM music, you'll want to look into Distorted Reality for sure.
