Gothtronic - 05/2005
14. Wave Gotik Treffen Sunday 15 May 2005
Yes, we have to wait a little longer due to technical problems. When the band kicks off (in white blouses and black neckties) however, it's clear that Distorted Reality is a great live band. Martha M. Arce sings brilliantly and even reminds a little of Alanis Morrisette in her early years - when she was rolling over the stage and wasn't too focussed on her vocals. The band sounds live more like a rock/ punk band with electro influences. The addition of a guitar player and a real live setting makes this an energetic show. Songs like 'Super Crush' (that sounds almost like a real punk song), 'Something Wicked' (in which Martha sings more feminine/friendlier), 'Never Change' and 'In My Dream' sound truly impressive. Special moments are when Martha gets supported by Julia Byer (of Technoir) and the amazing cover version of 'Rebel Yell' (Billy Idol). If this gig is the foretoken of the new album 'Daydreams And Nightmares' than this should be a CD to look forward to. Probably one of the best performances of this WGT that I've seen this year.
